KINGS CANYON

We are taking off for a few days to Kings Canyon with the RV. I know it is going to be a bit chilly up in the mountains but it sure is beautiful this time of year with all the leaves changing and as an extra bonus ... the summer vacationers have gone home for winter. It will only be the RV'ers of the most hardy kind..of which we are. So much to see there th is time of year...the deer are coming down from the higher elevations and the hunting season is over. The bear are getting ready to begin their winter slumber and occasionally can be seen lumbering their big rolly polly selves around in the sun. This will probably be the last trip to the mountains before the snow falls so the next trip will have to be west to the coast for some sunshine and warm weather when it is cold here in the valley. I can not tell you how much I love our RV...it is the best investment and stress relief there is. See you next week....

Not Much to say...

Not much going on around here so I don't have much to blog about.  Officer K is in training today. Solace is sick and I really need to clean this house. I guess being here is just one more excuse I have for not cleaning it...lol. I am trying to come up with something new and exciting for dinner. I get so sick of eating my own food sometimes. I really need some new recipes and ideas. So if  you have any please leave them here for me.....

Still Alive

I know you all must think that I fell off the face of the earth but I am still alive and kicking. It has been such a busy summer and things are just now winding down for me. We have been camping all over the state and have had such a great time. Cody is back in school and doing his best to enjoy his senior year. We have done senior pictures and ordered his cap and gown. Solace is hoping to get his Associates degree by next spring. He is working and going to college and is a busy young man. He wants to attend the University of San Francisco next fall to become a Dentist. Officer K is doing great and getting ready for another shift change (ugh...I hate shift change). My sister Carrie is doing great and working so hard at her new job. Charlie just received student of the month at his pre-school and Carrie is very proud. I am really enjoying the wonderful fall weather. It is my favorite time of year. I get the urge to start baking apple pies and making stew. Perhaps I will share some more of my recipes with you and you in turn can share some of yours with me. I am going to make an effort to be here more and make my rounds to your sites as well.

Fun in the Sun

We have been having so much fun!! My dear Husband Officer K works a 4 days on and 4 days off schedule, so every 4 days we have been taking off in the fifth wheel and exploring our surroundings. We went to San Simeon and saw Hearst Castle....we have been to Kings Canyon National Park to camp...we have been to the Sequoia National Park to camp....We have been to Bass Lake ( where we liked it so much we joined a private membership resort). We have been to Yosemite, which is just beautiful. The best part of it all is that all these places are within a couple of hours from home. Where we live is so centrally located in the state that we can be in the mountains or at the beach...or even the desert in just 2-4 hours. Our fifth wheel is the best vacation investment we have ever made. Some people buy R.V.'s and never use them...we sure are using and enjoying ours. So that is why you haven't heard from me and my entries will be few and far between until winter forces us to put the R.V. to bed. Hope you all are enjoying your summer and getting some sun and finding some fun.....

Carrie and  Charlie update....

Carrie is working her tail off at her new job and whipping her store into shape. Her and the family are moving on Saturday to their new house. She is very exicted to be out on their own again. Charlie is having a great time at "school" (daycare) he just loves having so many new friends and even a cute little girlfriend. She said to say hello to all of you for her and that she misses you all.....

In My World.....

Well I guess I should catch you all up on what is happening in my world. School is winding down, just a few more days of his Junior year for my youngest Cody. College classes are over and Solace has started a new job at Target and is working as much as he can. Officer K is working long hours and getting ready to go to FTO School for training. FTO stands for field training officer, they help train the new guys on the job. I have been spending a lot of time with my Mom getting her settled and then she got sick so I was nurse for a week or so. This week I am cleaning the fifth wheel and getting it packed for our first vacation of the year. We are headed out to San Simeon Beach ( that is where Hearst Castle is). We are going to be spending a few days there along with some friends who are also going to be camping with us. We bought a generator for our fifth wheel and everybody is teasing me about "roughing it"....lol. Well they can tease me all they want...I will be in luxury while they sleep on the hard ground with the sand fleas...lol. I have also been spending lots of time reading the "Left Behind" series. If you have never read this series of books I recommend that you do. The weather is warming up and we are in the 90's this week. I can handle the 90's just not looking forward to the 100's. Pippin is growing up to be a wonderful pet and companion. She has just been so easy to care for and is very smart and learns quickly. My sister Carrie starts her new job with Jamba Juice today and is very excited although she is a bit saddened by it also. She is really going to miss being with Charlie all day, everyday. Charlie is so excited about getting to go to "school", I think he is going to love it. Carrie will have a rough time of it for the next couple of weeks but I am sure it will work out for all of them. Well that is about it I guess, sorry I have been such a bad blogging buddy but when  the weather starts to warm up it is  hard for me to just sit around and spend time on the computer.  Hope all of you are enjoying the nice weather and are spenidng it outside with someone you love .....see you soon.

I will be around to see all of you just as soon as I can.....

Moving in and Seeing Officer K in Action

We made it  back from L.A. in one piece, but just barely. We got Mom packed up and started for home. Officer K driving the 26' truck, Mom in her car and me driving our dually. We were on highway 57 when all of a sudden there is an interchange and I am surrounded by big trucks and a bus and I can't see the signs. Well I got pushed off the 57 and onto the 60 and had one hell of a time getting back to the  57. But we made it and we got the truck unloaded and now the unpacking begins. We are all still exhausted, trying to catch up on my rest while I have a hundred other things going on. The boys are going to prom tonight so I have been running around picking up tux's and flowers and handing out money like I am a millionaire. I had to take Solaces car down to have it repaired (more money). My Dad had surgery on Wednesday so I am trying to keep in touch with him about his progress. I keep trying to get over there to see him (he  is at home) but just can't seem to get there. Been helping Mom get her heavy stuff moved around where she wants it and helping her unpack a few boxes. We are supposed to go to a wedding this afternoon but I just don't think I am up to it to tell you the truth. My poor house is suffering from all of this as I just haven't had time to do a thing here. I hope to be able to catch up some time next week.

I was on my way home from tanning yesterday when I see a police car up ahead of me to the side of the road. All of a sudden it turns on its lights and sirens and makes a u-turn right  in front of me. Of course I pull to the side of the road. When it screams by me going code 3, I recognize the face of my dear Husband Officer K. I have seen him at work before but never in this manner. I had a lot of mixed emotions about this. I was proud...proud that he works hard everyday to make our community safe. I was also a little frightened, and said a prayer for his safety. I pray for him everyday he walks out of here to go to work. I never know if it will be the last time I see him. I am confident in his training as an officer but it is a crazy world out there. It turns out he was going to a rollover traffic accident and the lady who was driving didn't look like she would make it. So now I am saying prayers for her and for her family. I dreamed about this last night....I think it has affected me more than I thought.......

Southern California Here We Come

In about one hour we will be leaving for Southern California. I hope we will miss most of the traffic, but down south here in California traffic is a fact of life. I don't envy Officer K for having to drive the 26' moving van back from there tomorrow. He is an old truck driver from way back so he won't care. I'm not crazy about having to drive my new truck in all that traffic but it will be the last time I have to go down there to see my Mom, thank goodness. See you when I get back.....

Father

Father

A little boy got on the bus, sat next to a man reading a book, and noticed he had his collar on backwards.

The little boy asked why he wore his collar that way.

The man, who was a priest, said, "I am a Father."

The little boy replied, "My Daddy doesn't wear his collar like that."

The priest looked up from his book and answered
"I am the Father of many."

The boy said, "My Dad has 4 boys, 4 girls, and two grandchildren and he doesn't wear his collar that way."

The priest, getting impatient, said, "I am the Father of hundreds" and went back to reading his book.

The little boy sat quietly thinking for a while, then leaned over and said, "Maybe you should wear your pants backwards instead of your collar."

Moving Mom

Well moving day is fast approaching. Before that we have lots to do to get ready for it. Today I pick up the keys and will go over to the house and clean the bathrooms and the kitchen real well. Then tomorrow morning I will meet the carpet cleaning guy at 9 am to get the carpets freshened up. We will be leaving on Tuesday morning for Mom's place in southern California and will load her up and be back sometime on Wednesday afternoon. It is going to be a quick and tiring trip but we are so excited the day has finally arrived. Solace will be staying home to take care of KC and we will be taking little Pippin with us. I keep going over everything in my head, did I get everything lined up ok? Electricity on...check....gas on....check....carpet cleaning lined up...check....phone service on...check. Maybe I should go out and get her a few groceries also.  That way when she gets here she won't have to worry about that at least for a few days. I am trying to think of something I can do for her to surprise her with. You know ...like when she walks into her new house.....and there  is something there to welcome her......flowers won't work...so I can't think of anything....here is a challenge for you all....what can I do for her to welcome her to her new home?? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Graduation Ceremonies

Saturday afternoon my Dad and his Wife, our Son Solace, Officer K and I all went out to the Sheriffs Training Center and went to our Son Cody's graduation from the Explorer Academy. We couldn't have been more proud of him. The group of Explorers consisted of 40 kids broke up into 4 squads with one squad leader for each team. Our son Cody was squad leader for squad 4. Not only was he picked to be one of the squad leaders but he came in 4th in his class. He received a special award for this and I was so proud I cried and cried. I was proud of all of the kids actually, they had given up a week of their Easter vacation to get up early and attend this academy for 10 hours a day for a week. They learned about marching, how to fall into formation, CPR and first aid, report writing, communications, CSI, K9's and spent a day shooting off rounds at the range. All in all it was a very tiring week for them but they learned so much and now are ahead of the game if they do decide to attend the Police Academy to become Officers. Of course Officer K is just so proud and excited that his son would want to follow in his footsteps.

Congratulations Captain Cody....you make us so proud.

Weatherman..You're Fired!! and New Photos Of Pippin

I am calling the local T.V. station to fire the weatherman. So much for our 80 degree weather. It is 66 degrees and threatening to rain....grrrrrrr.

I have added some new pictures of Pippin. to her photo album..she is the cutest dog in the world....he he he.

Tanning Beds and Warm Weather

So I have added one more thing to my list of things to do daily....going to the tanning bed. I do it every year because of the crazy weather we have here in the valley. One day it is 50 degrees and then we might have 2 weeks of 70 degree weather and then in the words of Emeril.... BAM!! It is near 100 degrees for the next 3 months. I live in my shorts in the summer and I don't have the time or the energy to tan outdoors and who needs skin cancer anyway. So I won't blind anyone with my white skin I go to the tanning beds. As far as the weather goes it is going to be 77 degrees today and should be 80 degrees by Friday. I am so glad to see the sun again after all of those rains.  I am going to plant my flower gardens and enjoy the nice weather before the heat from Hades gets here. I really do enjoy the warm weather to about 90 degrees and then I spend a lot of time in the pool, indoors or shopping where it is cool. We do try to spend as much time as we can either on the coast or in the mountains when it gets real warm. That is the nice thing about where we live, it takes about 2 hours either way to get somewhere where the temperatures are more bearable. I hope all of you are enjoying your Easter Week........

No Rest For The Weary

Usually when Officer K has his 4 days off we get a lot of time to sleep in and get caught up on the 4-11 hour days that he works. Not so this week....Our youngest Son Cody who is a Captain in the Police Explorer Program is going to the Explorer Academy that the County Sherrifs Office is hosting. So we are up every day at 6 am getting him up and getting the Explorers ready for the Academy. We are doing all the transporting to and from the school and it is about a 30 minute drive each way. Also Officer K had a follow up appointment with his gastric Dr. this week. That went really well and he has lost a total of 80 lbs. in 8 months and he just looks terrific. The appointment went well but getting there was an adventure in itself. Some nutjob decided to take the Police on a pursuit on the freeway that we use to get to the Dr.s officer some 40 miles away. Well they shut down the freeway so it took us 2 1/2 hours to get there. All this of course with our new little puppy with us. She doesn't like to be left in her crate when we go somewhere and freaks out  so we have ended up taking her everywhere we go. She is really good in the truck and we have a little pet carrier we leave her in when we have to go inside somewhere. Now I don't know what we are going to do when summer gets here because it gets really really hot here on the valley in the summer. I am talking in the 100's. We certainally can't take her with us then so we will need to come up with a new plan before then...any suggestions?? We have a brand new house with brand new furniture and I am not going to leave this little chewing monster free to roam around my house while we are gone. She is housebroke so that is not the problem but I just know she will go nuts and chew everything in site. The backyard would work if she were just a bit larger, there are a few spots where she may be able to get under the fence so that is out for now. So she is taking up most of my time between transporting kids and cleaning house and trying to keep food in the house. Easter vacation is usually a time to rest and get caught up...not so at my house this year. So tell me...what are you and your family doing during the Easter break??

Unexpected Visitor

I have a friend, I will call her L. L and I used to be best friends and then last October some things happened and we parted ways. I have missed L very much, we did so many things together and had so much fun but our parting seemed to be so final on her end. So I am getting ready to clean my house this morning when I hear a knock on the door. I open the door and there she is. I ask her in and she hugs me tight, apologizing for the  things that happened between us and that she is very sorry about everything. We both start to cry and many days of hurt are washed away in a few tears. I have been praying for some healing to this friendship and God didn't let me down, He never does. I hope we can get back to that place we once were and be the kind of friends we always should be. Thank you Lord for answering my prayers today......You are ever faithful.

Goings On....

First of all I need to apologize for not visiting your blogs lately, and I really appreciate you continuing to come visit mine. I have been extremely busy and now with the new puppy it's twice as bad. She is a great little dog but she IS a puppy. I have had several people ask how KC is taking to the new puppy Pippin. She is doing ok with her but what KC really likes is the fact that there are so many new toys in the house. They have been playing well together and KC is teaching her a few manners with a growl here and there. We took Pippin to the vet and she is very healthy and was wormed and has an appointment to go back in one month to be spayed and get her rabies shot. The vet asked Officer K how does a big bad cowboy like him turn into mush around a little puppy...lol. Officer K bought her a little leather collar that says Princess on it. A little pink heart tag with her name, HIS cell phone number and our address. Guess where she sleeps. Well she has decided she likes to sleep IN the bed with Officer K and I. Yes, I said IN the bed, between the sheets about halfway down the bed completly covered up. I have added a few more pics to the album of Pippin, KC, and Officer K.

Our New Baby

Here are some pictures of our new baby Pippin. She is a Jack Russell Terrier mix. She is the most adorable and sweet little dog. We are just thrilled to have her in our family. She thinks we're pretty special too.

Prayers for our town...

I am asking for prayer for our little town. Last night we had a 5 year old boy running to his baseball game hit by a car. They airlifted him to Childrens Hospital and he is in critical condition. Also his Grandmother was taken by ambulance to the hospital as she saw the whole thing.

Also our High School Ag Farm had a fire last night. I don't know how bad it was but the AG Farm is the heart of this school. We are a very agricultural based community and the kids will just be devastated, my son included. He has 4 classes a day and 2 of them are at the Ag Farm. Officer K is supposed to get off work at 4pm and didn't get home last night till almost 11pm because of the tragic events of last night.

Our town has its own set of problems as any town does but to have two tragic events in one night is unusual for us. But if I know our town...it will pull together and do whatever it can to help this young boy and his family and the Ag Farm will be repaired bigger and better than before.

I'm A Cop

I didn't write it but it begged to be posted......

Mr. Citizen, it seems you've figured me out. I fit neatly into the category where you've placed me. I'm stereotyped, standardized, characterized, classified, grouped, and always typical. Unfortunately, the reverse is true. I can never figure you out.

From birth, you teach your children that I'm the bogeyman,
and then you're shocked when they identify/associate with my traditional enemy...the criminal!

You accuse me of coddling criminals.... until I catch your kids doing wrong.

You may take an hour for lunch and several coffee breaks each day,
but point me out as a loafer for having one cup.

You pride yourself on your manners,
but think nothing of disrupting my meals with your troubles.

You raise Cain with the guy who cuts you off in traffic,
but let me catch you doing the same thing and I'm picking on you.

You know all the traffic laws...
but you've never gotten a single ticket you deserve.

You shout "FOUL" if you observe me driving fast to a call,
but raise the  roof if I take more than ten seconds to respond to your complaint.

You call it part of my job if someone strikes me,
but call it police brutality if I strike back.

You wouldn't think of telling your dentist how to pull a tooth or your doctor how to take out an appendix, yet you are always willing to give me pointers on the law.

You talk to me in a manner that would get you a bloody nose from anyone else,
but expect me to take it without batting an eye.

You yell that something's got to be done to fight crime,
but you can't be bothered to get involved.

You have no use for me at all, but of course it's OK if I change a flat for  your wife, deliver your child in the back of the patrol car, or perhaps save your son's life with mouth to mouth breathing, or work many hours overtime looking for your lost daughter.

So Mr. Citizen, you can stand there on your soapbox and rant and rave about the way I do my work, calling me every name in the book, but  never stop to think that your property, family, or maybe even your life depends on me or one of my buddies.

Yes, Mr. Citizen, it's me the cop!

Second Blood....

So we take the new truck to a reputable R.V. center to have the fifth wheel hitch installed on Friday. Officer K tells them to take care of our baby it is her first time...he he he. They tell us how their guy has been doing these hitches for 20  years and not to worry. We found a place that would do it for $100.00 cheaper but Officer K he would rather pay the extra money to know it is done right. We are told to come back around 5pm. We get a phone call around 2pm telling us there is a problem.....now you all remember the story about the trouble we have with new trucks ...right?..ok. So the guy tell us that their guy (the one with 20 years experience) has measured our hitch for a short bed and has drilled some holes that aren't supposed to be there. ARGGGHH!!!!! How can you think that this  monster of a truck could have a short bed?????? So he asks us what we want them to do?? Officer K says he will have to call them back (oh.. is he upset) So he calls them back and asks them what THEY are going  to do about it. They make us an offer to fix the holes with some welding then have the truck lined with a spray in bedliner. We had actually been talking about having one put in anyway but didn't want to put out the $500.00 to do it. So we go down there and see the damage and talk to the service manager. We go over with him that we had just had the windshield replaced and about our history with new trucks. So we decide we will go with the bedliner (which they are paying for). We go to pay the $464.00 bill to put the hitch in and they say we only owe them $255.00 plus anytime we buy something there we will be getting a 10% discount for life. I told you we have problems with new vehicles and Officer K and I are still shaking our heads....lol This time I think we got the better end of the deal and even though they screwed it up...they sure went out of their way to make it right....I think we found our new R.V. center.
